During the week I have also been talking to several community members on discussing the value of these bi-weekly updates and our general vision for the project.
These bi-weekly updates are backwards looking which means they summarise what we have been working on, only occasionally revealing what we are planning to work on. The reason for this is two-fold:
1) Since 2021 we have learned that pre-releasing too much info about launches ahead of time undermines the impact of the launch when it actually does come, which is obviously sub-optimal
2) Talking about things in advance will cause people to make purchases based on these plans, which then locks us down and limits our ability to pivot based on trends and market conditions without hurting those who made decisions based on these plans
Just over the last 2-4 weeks, there has been major changes and pivoting related to product strategy and positioning, which wouldn't be possible had we announced too much in advance.
Our vision remains the same, to grow and expand the entire ecosystem through new games and products, at the same time continuing to improve on GFC with feature releases at the right time considering external factors like market but also internal such as where we are in our GCOIN cycle (Ends 16th of May!). As our focus is on developing new products and growing the ecosystem, there are often more things we can't share than we can share, and the bi-weekly blog covers only a very small % of that.
